SENIOR HOCKEY MID SEASON REPORT - A 7 PART SERIES - PART 2, MENS 1ST XI

Updated: Dec 27, 2022

Heading into the mid-season break, we take a look at the first half of the season of our senior teams. Today we delve into the Men's 1st XI.

Season: 2022/2023

League: South East Hockey - Premier Division

Position: 12th

Wins: 1

Draws: 1

Losses: 8

Points: 4

Sanj Atwal - Men's 1st XI - Coach

The season has started slowly for the men’s 1s, who haven’t manage to pick up as many points as they would have liked. An injury hit team, with new players coming in and other players leaving was always going to provide some issues, but the team are now looking more refined as they go into the Christmas break. I am confident the team can turn the results around after the Christmas break.

One thing is for certain though, the players who have been brought in from the 2nd XI to step up and play South East Premier have seen their hard work and dedication at training come through to fruition.

Matt Hopkins - Men's 1st XI - Captain

Sittingbourne Mens 1st XI have endured a difficult first half of the season, with many close run games. Beating Horsham 1-0 at home being the highlight with losing to fellow strugglers, Eastbourne, 3-2 away after being 2-1 up the low point of the season so far. We will keep battling and get ourselves off the foot of the table.
