SENIOR HOCKEY MID SEASON REPORT - A 7 PART SERIES - PART 6, THE MENS 5TH XI

Heading into the mid-season break, we take a look at the first half of the season of our senior teams. Today we delve into the Men's 5th XI.

Season: 2022/2023

League: South East Hockey - Division 9 Invicta

Position: 8th

Wins: 3

Draws: 1

Losses: 5

Points: 10

Mark Bullen - Captain - Men's 5th XI

One word: Frustrating. 9 games, 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses. With the exception of 1 game, performances have been really good and on a number of occasions have gone unrewarded, with scoring goals being the main challenge.

We introduced two new juniors this season - Jay Sharma and Fola Oladimeji - both of whom scored their first senior goals in a memorable 4-1 home win against Burnt Ash. Stand out moment would be Jay Sharma following up his first senior goal with a hat trick the following week in a 3-1 win away to K Sports. Our other juniors - Mikey Smith-Gowdy, James Goodwin and Connor Stone - have also continued to impress in their second season.

Overall a positive start to the season and we'll be looking to kick on when the season resumes in January.
